A STEP AWAY FROM THE STRAIGHT LINE.
A gentle curve connects the white wall and ceiling. Boundaries soften, and the eye moves slowly into the depth of the space. It is less something to look at than something understood by walking through it.

Ashimori, Okayama. In a space enclosed by white curves, light and shadow move slowly.
Spend time with art and music,
and experience the space at your own pace.
ASHIMORI / OKAYAMA
A gentle curve connects the white wall and ceiling. Boundaries soften, and the eye moves slowly into the depth of the space. It is less something to look at than something understood by walking through it.

Light entering through the windows changes position with time. Shadows travel across the walls and never remain in one place. Morning and afternoon, clear skies and clouds, each season gives the space a different expression.

Between one work and another. Between wall and furniture. Between a person and the room. Unoccupied space slows the act of looking, just a little.

Lighting, bookshelves, walls and furniture. The character of ArsKMW is found not only in the scale of the room, but in its smallest details.

ArsKMW is located in Ashimori, Kita-ku, Okayama, an area that retains traces of its historic castle-town character. Here, a place for contemporary art exists within the fabric of the town. From the interior to the streets outside, that threshold is part of ArsKMW.

A photograph is not enough.
The scale of the curves, the movement of light, and the distance from the works are all flattened on a screen.
The rest is here.
